Amanda Hewitt

Amanda is a Marriage and Family Therapy Intern currently completing her master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at National University, with specialized training in systemic sex therapy and substance use/co-occurring disorders. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences with a concentration in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2023.

Before pursuing graduate training, Amanda gained extensive experience in human services across inpatient, community mental health, and behavioral health settings, working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and with a wide range of mental health concerns. These experiences have shaped her commitment to providing compassionate, collaborative, and culturally responsive care.

Amanda has experience working with members of the D/deaf and Hard of Hearing community, LGBTQIA+ individuals, ethically non-monogamous (ENM) and polyamorous individuals and relationships, atheist and agnostic communities, survivors of intimate partner and domestic violence, and others whose experiences have often been misunderstood, marginalized, or stigmatized. She is passionate about creating an affirming, inclusive therapeutic environment where clients feel seen, respected, and empowered to define healing and success on their own terms.

Her therapeutic approach is grounded in systemic thinking and integrates Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Somatic-informed interventions, and Internal Family Systems-informed concepts. Amanda enjoys working with individuals, couples, and families, helping clients recognize their strengths, navigate life challenges, and build meaningful, authentic lives that reflect their values and goals.
