Catelyn Ray
Catelyn Ray is a graduate student intern currently enrolled in Northcentral University's Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy program and is expected to graduate in Fall 2027. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from Appalachian State University in 2022, where she graduated with Departmental and University Honors.
Catelyn has experience working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families in a variety of behavioral health and community settings. She currently works as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), providing behavioral therapy to children with autism under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Previously, she worked as a Victim Advocate, supporting individuals and families impacted by domestic violence through crisis intervention, resource coordination, and support services. She has also facilitated mental health groups and provided relationship coaching, helping individuals improve communication, establish healthy boundaries, and strengthen interpersonal relationships. These experiences have strengthened her understanding of family systems, trauma, and the importance of creating a compassionate, collaborative therapeutic environment.
Catelyn approaches therapy from a systemic and strengths-based perspective, recognizing that individuals are influenced by the relationships and environments in which they live. She integrates evidence-based approaches, including Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), the Gottman Method, and Solution-Focused Therapy, while tailoring treatment to meet each client's unique needs and goals. She believes that every client possesses inherent strengths and that a trusting therapeutic relationship provides the foundation for meaningful growth and lasting change. Her goal is to create a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel empowered to explore challenges, build resilience, and develop healthier patterns of communication and connection.
