  3. Are you experiencing a significant life stressors such as unstable housing, unemployment, a medical crisis, or relationship loss?

  4. Have you discontinued counseling, or have been unable to start counseling due to financial or access barriers?

When can I start seeing a student counselor?
Our student counselors will begin meeting with new clients after returning from winter break in January 2026.

How do I sign up for counseling?

How will I be contacted?
That’s up to you! Choose your preferred contact method—phone, text, or email—and someone from our team will reach out when a counselor becomes available.

Can I choose my counselor?
Yes! You can view our student counselors on the Our Team page and let us know who you’d like to work with when we contact you.

I do not want to work with a student. Do you have licensed counselors?
Yes, we do. Please note that free counseling is provided only by our student counselors.

I want to work with a student but don’t live in Forsyth County. What are my options?
You’re still welcome to see one of our student counselors at our affordable self-pay rates—$50 for an intake session and $30 for telehealth sessions. If these rates are outside your budget, let us know, and we can explore a pay-what-you-can rate based on your situation.

I want to work with a student and can pay the full rate.
Wonderful! We would be honored to connect you with a student counselor at their standard rates of $50 for intake and $30 for telehealth sessions. Your payment helps sustain and expand our free and reduced-cost counseling programs for the community.

My loved one needs counseling. Can I sign them up?
We encourage loved ones to sign up themselves, but you’re welcome to assist with completing the form if you have their permission to do so.

I met with a student counselor, but I don’t think we’re a good match. Can I have another consult with a different counselor, or do I have to re-join the wait list?

No, you don’t have to rejoin the wait list- you can simply let us know you would like to try a different counselor. You may have as many consults as you’d like until we connect you with a match.

I’m a healthcare or community support professional. How do I make a referral to MentalRest?
