Katherine Warren

Katherine Warren, also known as Kate, is a graduate student intern currently enrolled in Walden University’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling Master’s program, specializing in Trauma Counseling and Military Families and Culture Counseling. She also has a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology with a minor in Psychology, earned from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania in 2017.

Katherine has worked extensively with the autistic population in a personal and professional capacity for several years in a direct care position. Katherine has worked with children, adolescents, and young adult populations within the foster care systems, as well as families working on reunification in a variety of circumstances in a support role. Katherine uses a person-centered approach along with a cognitive behavioral therapy approach to support clients in identifying their own emotions and behaviors from experiences. This is done in order to set goals, create coping methods, and identify and build healthy support systems to benefit the clients in their personal and professional lives outside of the counseling relationship. Katherine believes that allowing the client to choose their focus for counseling allows the best communication and chances for success, building trust and respect within the counseling relationship.

Katherine hopes to work extensively in the future with individuals impacted by negative experiences to allow chances for new opportunities for growth, personal development, and building of self-awareness and self-confidence. She is focusing on working through a telehealth format in order to give as many potential clients the ability to communicate as possible, from the safety and comfort of their own environment.
