The goal of my work is to help clients learn to self-regulate their emotions, allow for joy and peace to be felt and to witness and utilize their innate strengths. This can be achieved by meeting them where they are absent of judgment or expectation. I work collaboratively at whatever challenge clients have today and teach skills for them to be better prepared for the challenges ahead.
I enjoy working with people of various ages from pre-teens to older adults. I am forever honored to hold space and to receive the trust of others to receive their story and learn of their lived experiences. I accept it as a gift.
I am pursuing my Master of Health Science (MHS) in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Catawba College in Salisbury, NC. I have my Bachelor of Arts in Education/Secondary Edu: History, Guilford College, Greensboro, 2011. I also hold additional continuing education hours in trauma-informed, nature based arts therapy practices from the Expressive Arts Institute.
This is somewhat of a second career for me and is a natural evolution of my professional life. I have built my world around the experience of communication and striving to understand the underlying motivations of behavior. It is exciting to be entering this field now as scientific evidences are growing rapidly demonstrating how the mind and body are working together for emotional healing.
As far as me as a person, I enjoy strumming a guitar and banjo with a happy heart and bad timing. I have a little dog plus tons (and Tons) of art supplies. I find my calm by sitting next to a tree and watching a bird.
