Whitney Whitfield, MS

I am a graduate student intern currently enrolled in Walden University’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling master’s program. I also hold a Master of Science in Psychology from Capella University, earned in 2022.

I have several years of experience working with children, adolescents, and families in community mental health settings, including foster care, care management, and crisis support services. My background includes supporting individuals navigating behavioral challenges, life transitions, and complex family dynamics, as well as connecting families to community-based resources.

I use a person-centered approach while integrating cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and solution-focused techniques to help clients better understand their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. I work collaboratively with clients to identify goals, build coping skills, and strengthen support systems that promote long-term stability and growth. I value creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered.

I am especially interested in working with youth, young adults, and families, particularly those experiencing life stressors, identity development challenges, and transitions. I am committed to supporting clients in building resilience, increasing self-awareness, and developing practical strategies to navigate everyday challenges.
